The primary objective was to install evergreen screening panels along the fence line to improve privacy, while also replanting a border with a combination of Ilex and Hebe. The client desired additional plants to create a structured, polished landscape that would complement the modern style of the property.

Plant Selection
The following plants were chosen for their ability to provide privacy, structure, and year-round interest:

  • Photinia ‘Little Red Robin’ Panels: These evergreen screening panels were installed along the fence line to create an immediate sense of privacy. Known for their compact growth and vibrant red new foliage, these panels not only serve a practical purpose but also add a splash of color to the garden.

  • Elaeagnus ebbingei (Elaeagnus Ebbingei) Multistems: These multistem trees were used to add height and texture to the garden. Elaeagnus is well-suited to coastal conditions and offers silvery-green foliage that contrasts beautifully with the other plants, enhancing the overall structure of the garden.

  • Ilex crenata Balls (Japanese Holly): These perfectly shaped, evergreen Ilex balls were planted along the border to provide structure and formality. Their neat, rounded appearance makes them an ideal choice for creating a well-defined and low-maintenance garden feature.

  • Hebe ‘Mette’ Shrubs: These compact evergreen shrubs were planted in the border alongside the Ilex. Known for their dense, neat foliage and ability to thrive in coastal environments, Hebe ‘Mette’ adds texture and seasonal interest to the garden with its delicate flowers and vibrant leaves.
